His life in brief

  • Born in Riyadh 1924.
  • The sixth king of Saudi Arabia and the twelfth of the sons of the late King Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
  • He was classified as the sixth most influential figures in the world.
  • Received the golden medal which is the highest medal granted by the UNESCO world in recognition of his efforts in promoting the culture of dialogue and peace.
  • Received his education by the best teachers and scholars.
  • Appointed Second Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Guard during the reign of King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud.
  • Appointed king of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2005
  • He died in January 2015 on Friday, may Allah have mercy on him.

Political achievements

  • His call to an Islamic - Christian dialogue with the Vatican in Rome.
  • His call for interfaith dialogue and sponsorship of the 2008 conference in New York, UN.
  • The Arabic Peace Initiative in 2009.
  • Created a global institution for peace and humanitarian dialogue at the United Nations.
  • His call for reconciliation and building the Palestinian national-unity government.
  • Setting up a fund to support and confront the global economic crisis in 2008 in Washington.
  • Signing a reconciliation agreement between the Somali factions.

  • Establishment of King Abdullah Economic City, King Abdullah Financial Center, the Jazan Economic City and the City of Knowledge.
  • Planning for the establishment of economic cities in all the cities of the Kingdom.

  • Created King Abdullah International Foundation for charity and humanitarian.

Achievements in the Interior of the Kingdom
  • Establishment of the Board of Grievances.
  • Establishment of the National Water Company.
  • Expansions of the holy sites in Mina, Arafat and expanding the Holy Prophet Mosque.
  • Created Nanotechnology Center.
  • Launching of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.
  • Establishment of transportation projects from the city of Mecca and the holy places.
  • Giving orders to establish King Abdullah City for Atomic Energy United.
  • The first to enter the Saudi women in the Shura Council.
  • Created the city of ((Wa’ad Alshamal)) for mining investment.
